1Malaysia ke??

Now, this has been something I have ALWAYS thought about. I've always wanted to write it out, but never find the time (read: too much game playing) to write. But here I am, writing it while watching 1996's The First Wives Club.

So what I wanna talk about, is on 1Malaysia. Yep, lame topic. But, hear me out. I'm not gonna talk about what it means, as defined by the PM. No no. It's more on what I feel about it. So, what is 1Malaysia? To me, it means unity. It means that all of the people in our country, no matter what race you are, unite as Malaysian, not as Malays, Chinese, Indian and etc. But what others around me might define it, is as fairness and equality. So, am I wrong, or are they?

Whenever these people want equality, they always say, "Oh... So much for 1Malaysia.. but still not fair and not equal.. Government will always go on Malays side" Come on, grow up. It's 1Malaysia, not =Malaysia (that reads 'EqualMalaysia') 1Malaysia is about unity. I don't read that much of news, but even I know that. And unity isn't equality. Unity, is when people unite, living together as one. Hence the 1 in 1Malaysia.

All the time, when I walk in supermarkets, I see demonstrations on various products. And sometimes, I feel really irritated when I hear, the speaker's speaking Chinese. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not even the least racist. I love being in a multiracial country. But being in this kind of environment? Not working it out for me. Why must those speakers talk in a language that only their people would understand? Sure, some of the other people in a different race might speak the language, but that doesn't apply to the majority. What? Their target market are just their own races? They want to only sell kitchen items to their people? Isn't that a bit stupid marketing?

That doesn't even stop there. I'm a sucker for part-time jobs. I use to surf around the web to look for jobs. But know what upsets me the most? When I read the job specifications, it will always be specified into ONE particular race. For example:
-Must know how to promote -Must be attractive -Very aggressive -Must have transport -Female Chinese only WTF?? It's like, none of all the other qualities mean anything, unless your the race they wanted. Where's the 1Malaysia in that? Again, I'm saying, I'm not close to being racist, but are they trying to make me one? I get it. I get all the ethnocentrism. We think that our race is more superior than the others. I get that people wanna help their own race. I really do get it. But c'mon now. Grow up. Racism is the last thing you would want if you wanna develop. So what if somebody out there, is reaaaallly good. And just out of ego, that you want people from the same race, you find ONLY from those that is yours. What's that? Whatever happen to great people having great things?

If I were to mention this out loud, then I'm sure lots of people would come out, saying that Malaysia itself is always making the Malays the better one. Apparently, we always get better things. Well, firstly, the country is called MALAYsia, formerly known as Tanah Melayu. Hmm... I wonder why they call it that... Look, I'm bad in History. I tend to forget them. I don't remember what is in the agreement when Tunku Abdul Rahman went to England. But I do know that he went with a couple of other people from other race, because people have been saying that over and over again. Don't ask why the agreement sided the Malays, because I haven't been born at that time. But what I do know, is what's done is done. Get over it. You can't change the constitution unless you have Delorean.

Get this car. You can go back to the future. Try it.

This Malay vs other races, just because they feel the Malays are getting more, has so got to end. These are the deals made even before they were born. The hatred is just being instilled in all of us by our ancestors, and only God knows why they even do that. Fine. They wanna feel that the Malays are only successful right now just because of the advantages we have. Fine. Because personally I also feel that sometimes. But then again, the other races are also superior. Some are even more successful. So what's with the grudges?

And the Malays has their mistakes as well. They tend to make people hate them as well. With all the ego, superiority, hatred, and so much more. They feel that, since they have lots of advantages, they could live free, easy and in their comfort zone. Why not these Malays, even with all the advantages, show to other people that they can get things on their own, even without help from the government? And even if they do get help, why not they show their gratitude by performing well? This, not even I could get. Malays tend to take things very lightly and I think that this might be also the reason other think lowly of this race.

Look, we've been living this way for the past 53 years. Why suddenly make a hassle? We know better than to let history repeat itself. Get over it people. We're just Malaysians. Deal with it. Say no to racism!

Sweet.
